Canada Considers Allowing Television Viewers To Buy Some TV Channels Individually, Instead Of In Bundles

By Nottheworstnews @NotTheWorstNews

Yahoo News Digest reports regulators in Canada are considering requiring cable TV providers to provide a basic channel service for $20 to $30 per month, and also may require them to sell additional channels individually instead of just in bundles.

3 Questions That Arise From This Story

1. Does this spell the end of the apartment building front entrance security camera channel? Like, who is ever going to pay to watch that?

2. Does this mean things are also looking grim for channels showing fire logs burning on loop, and rotisserie chicken rotating on loop? Perhaps, but paying for those channels is still better value than being forced to pay for a bundle of channels with names about Arts & Entertainment and History, that are showing the opposite of arts, entertainment, and history.

3. How many years will it take for cable companies to realize today’s generation doesn’t want “channels” but rather whatever they want to see, whenever they want to see it? We don’t know when, but look forward to a live, on-demand Kardashian channel when they do, which will probably cost $20 a month to offset nobody paying for other similar mediocre offerings.
