Can You Top This Smartphone Cap?

Posted on the 04 March 2012 by Prepaidplans @prepaidplans

This is the question that Woolworths Mobile asks on its website “Can you top this smart phone cap?”woolworths prepaid mobile plans

I think I can, well I thought I could until I double checked the credit offer and it had changed from just calling Woolworths Mobile members to now also include Optus members. The truth is that you will find it very hard to top this cap when it comes to data. No other prepaid mobile plan with a $30 recharge will give you 5GB of data (increments of p/MB). So you can’t top them there. Even at the sim only level (or monthly plan) you will struggle. Live Connected gives you 5GB with the $39.99 Zen plan, but you need to spend $40 each month, not $29 with a 45 days recharge. TPG’s Infinity & Beyond also gives you 5GB but you need to spend $45 per month for this plan. On the prepaid side of things, Red Bull Mobile’s 365 plan gives you 5GB each month but it requires that you purchase a 12 month recharge for $365.

On the call credit side of things, the Woolworths Mobile $29 recharge gives you $500 in calls made up of $250 to anyone and $250 to Woolworths Mobile and Optus members. When it was purely $250 to Woolworths mobile, I could easily top it, but adding in Optus makes a big difference and means you have almost half of Australian prepaid mobile users to call.

With a total credit of $500 for calls, Woolworths Mobile is the best out there at the moment, you can’t beat them for data or calls.  You can compare all $30 recharge caps here. Call rates are 89c/min with a 39c flagfall. This is standard Optus call rates. When they launched the flagfall was 30c. It might have been increased when Optus members where added to the list. A 2 minute call will cost you $2.17. So your $500 will give you 230 calls. What you can add to this is $50 bonus if you switch to them before the 15/4/2012.
