Busy Bees

By Thedoodlehouse @thedoodlehouse

Well, this is awkward. It looks like I need to set a reminder on my phone to encourage me to blog because two weeks between posts is not up to doodle house standards.  Sorry, mom. I will never let you down like this again.

The truth is, we’ve been keeping ourselves plenty occupied over the last two weeks, but less in home improvement projects and more in work (organizing a giant flash mob…it’s a tough job) and socializing (attending the splendiferous wedding festivities of Mark and Ranjana). So between this and that and this, I totally let blogging fall by the wayside. So I’ll take the next couple of days to fill in the holes about what has kept us busy this month.

For starters, I got to shoot my first wedding as a real deal wedding photographer, and by that I mean I wasn’t related to or friends with the bride or the groom. Admittedly there is still a lot I need to learn about photography if I want to even pretend to call my self a “photographer” but this experience definitely taught me a lot. Like bring an extra pair of batteries for your external flash. And maybe have some phrases in your back pocket to encourage folks to relax when they are posing. And maybe let the bride take her bridal photos away from friends and family so they don’t bark orders about posing into her ear. And don’t be afraid to put on bossy pants and direct people where to go and stand so they don’t meander about like lost children. And maybe rent a zoom lens from the camera shop so you don’t have to get all up in people’s business when you’re taking photos.  Yes. All of those pieces of knowledge will definitely help out should I ever be given the opportunity to shoot another wedding. Professional photographer or not, I thought I’d share my favorite snaps from Cecily and Blair’s Horseshoe Bay wedding.
