Breakfast in Montauk

Breakfast in MontaukBreakfast in MontaukDid you know Montauk is the end? Literally.  It is the beautiful and charming end of Long Island.  I just spend two days there with one of my best friends.  The weather was perfect, and the scenery was stunning.  We ate, we drank, we shopped, we sat poolside, we talked, we laughed.  A wonderful combination of so many things!  While there seem to be a million and one places to dine, from clam shacks (obviously I didn't go there) to the expensive see-and-be-seen establishments, my favorite spot of our time there was Joni's Kitchen.  Breakfast in MontaukBreakfast in MontaukBreakfast in MontaukJoni's is a small, quaint, laid back, dine in or take out colorful cafe in the heart of Montauk.

If you want smoothies, they have them.  18 are on the menu, you can create your own, and you can add extra doses of goodness like flax meal, echinacea, ginseng, dates and hemp protein.

If you want salads or burgers (a bunch of vegan choices included here too) they have them.

If you want heartier breakfast options, they've got them.  Everything from wraps (you can even get a brown rice tortilla) to "jaffles" - grilled pressed sandwiches with optional fillers like peanut butter, banana, raisins and soy cream cheese.  They have the rio acai bowl with homemade granola topped with acai, berries, cacao nibs and toasted almonds and keen-wha, quinoa served warm with cranberries, crushed toasted walnuts, dates, cinnamon and your choice of milk.

I had the avocado for breakfast selection - 1/2 an avocado on toasted, nutty seven grain bread with cucumber, red onion, mesclun greens, sliced tomato, and vegan chipotle mayo.  I think you can tell from the photo I was one happy vegan girl!

If you're still looking for a place to spend Labor Day, this is one spot for you to seriously consider!
