Synopsis

One rivalry. Eight days until Christmas. Let the holiday games begin.

When L.A.-based real estate developer Bella Ross arrives in the sleepy mountain town of Maple Falls, she has one mission: to acquire the local failing Christmas shop, Always Noelle, securing the promotion of her dreams. Nothing can get in her way. Except the shop owner’s stubborn grandson, Jesse Harrison.

Both refuse to budge, until an unlikely wager is struck: Bella and Jesse will compete in the Maple Falls Holiday Games, an annual tradition of eccentric feats of strength and skills. Winner decides the selling price. They’ll give each other a run for their money, but as the competition heats up, Bella and Jesse’s icy feelings toward each other begin to thaw. It’ll take a Christmas miracle for them to admit there’s a spark, but what if it’s just another game?

My Thoughts

Holly Cassidy brings the heart and soul back into the Holiday season with her latest novel, ‘The Christmas Wager’.  If you are a Hallmark Christmas movie fan, then this book is perfect for you.  I have to admit I am not one for the Hallmark Christmas movie, but I was able to enjoy this book from start to finish.  That shows how well Holly was able to write this story if she could get someone who isn’t a huge Hallmark fan to enjoy the story and not get bored or want to move on.

The leading lady Bella wasn’t a huge fan of the Holiday season, but Maple Falls and Jesse was able to help unfreeze her heart and show her the Holidays were not that bad.  Due to the wager Bella did with Jesse and his grandpa she had to be in the holiday games that the town put on every year. The games the town thought of and put together were not ones I would ever have thought of.  It was so great to read the game scenes as they made you laugh at what it was but there were a few where something went wrong and showed how people were there for each other.  Whenever the game was over, I was always very curious about what the next game would be.

The spice in this book won’t make the snow melt as it’s only a level one and everything is done pretty much behind closed doors.  But with the book overall being a 3 and a half stars, ‘The Christmas Wager’, is a great Holiday read you want to make sure you have on hand.  Holly was able to write a book that helps get you in that perfect seasonal mood but always can take you away from the craziness the holiday season could bring.  This book was just released at the end of last month and you can get it wherever you get your books.

**I would like to thank NetGalley, Holly Cassidy, and G.P. Putnam’s Sons for the ARC copy of this book. Getting the ARC Copy did not influence my thoughts on the book as they are all my own.**
