During a hometown visit, I made my way over to Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport to capture America’s newest airline in action.  Ultra low-cost carrier Avelo Airlines launched their inaugural service in April 2021 with just three of these -800 aircraft, the first revenue flight being from Burbank to Santa Rosa.  The 737-800 is a stretched version of the 737-700, filling the gap left by the decision to discontinue the McDonnell Douglas MD-80/MD-90 following Boeing’s merger with McDonnell Douglas.  Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport is named after the famed cartoonist of the Peanuts comic strip, who lived in Santa Rosa for more than 30 years.  Fuji X-Pro2 w/18-135mm.
