*Birthday Blog*

By Stephanie1 @NewBeautyReview
Every year on my birthday I do the same thing. I go to M.A.C, Sephora & Godiva and treat myself to makeup & chocolate. I usually get a mix of things from Sephora, lip gloss from M.A.C & assorted truffles along with my guilty pleasure; White chocolate covered strawberries. Yu-mmy!
Sometimes I'll throw in some clothes, shoes and jewels but I always make sure I get the basics first! Thursday was no different except I got some LUSH bubble bath goodies too!
I was happy to go to M.A.C because, well, I always am considering I get a 40% PRO discount, but this time I also had 6 empty lipsticks so I was excited to get a "free" gloss.
For those of you that don't know, M.A.C has this amazing recycle program that allows you to return 6 empty products and in return you get to pick a lipglass, lipstick or eye shadow. Who wouldn't love that?! I know I speak for a lot of shoppers & beauty lovers when I say we love to get free stuff!!
Even though it's not technically "free", it's a nice exchange. I like comapnies that "give back." Considering the rate at which I buy makeup, it adds up.
I saved $20 between my exchange & discount! So, Thanks M.A.C, Love you guys!!!! : )
M.A.C Goodies:
*Lipglass, Underage (Recycling exchange)
*Sheen Supreme Lipstick, Full Speed ($8.70-Reg. price $14.50)
*Amplified Creme Lipstick, Saint Germain ($8.70-Reg. price $14.50)
*Plushglass, Bountiful ($11.10-Reg price $18.50)

So the first thing I wanted was so gorgeous and of course it was sold out!! I was so mad, it was a scorching hot pink called Party Parrot. I looked for pics but none of them do it justice. I'll just pray they come out with something similar soon.
For my "free" lipglass, I picked Underage. It's been around forever & I've wanted it forever so I just finally got it.
Then I got a refill of, one of what's become, my favorite lipglosses ever at this point, the Plushglass formula (which means it's a tingly lip plumper) & it's called Bountiful. It's a beautiful shimmery pink that I've worn with everything & it smells delicious!
Then I saw these delicious little treats in the Sheen Supreme Lipstick section. They're supposed to be sheer but they're not at all! They're creamy & pigmented so I got a bright orangey one called Full Speed, to mend my broken Party Parrot heart. Haha!
My last pick was an Amplified Creme Lipstick called Saint Germain. I fell in LOVE with this CremeSheen Lipstick called "All Styled Up" and of course, it sold out before I could stock up so this was close enough. It's too bright of a pastel so I'd wear this with a lip liner like Spice (also from M.A.C) to tone it down & give my lips more dimension.
I took some pics  of what they look like on me so you can get a better idea of how they catch light. I didn't use lip liner b/c I wanted you to see them just as they are.

After M.A.C I hit Sephora, ready to shop! I had a mental list of left over goodies I didn't pick up for Christmas & as usual, my ever faithful Sephora didn't let me down.
Sephora Haul:

My first 3 picks:
*Urban Decay Primer Potion, Sin ($19)
*tokidoki Eye Shadow Cube, Adios Cromatico Palette ($5-Originally $19)
*Sephora Brand Jumbo Crayon Waterproof Liner, Black ($10)
(From L to R: UD in Sin, tokodoki cube(4 colors), Sephora JumboLiner)
*Birthday Blog*
The Urban Decay, Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin completely lived up to it's reputation. It's a beautiful champagne primer that's so intense you can easily skip concealer around the eyes & just use this. It's indestructable as it wears for hours, like I had to scrub it off my arm. Definitely a Must Have!
I saw this little tokidoki gem in a discount bin for $5 but when I went to check out, it rang up as $19. I told the cashier that it was in a discount bin AND it was my birthday....whaddaya know? He gave it to me for $5!
What can I say? As a native New Yorker my negotiation skills are pretty sharp...*blink, blink, blink*
It's pigmented enough on it's own but I'm sure I could turn it up a notch or 2 with the right primer/base.
The BEST part is the little zipper pull it comes with! I love stores like Kid Robot & the little mystery boxes they have w/these kind of Japanese inspired designs. Super cute for adults & kids alike!

I'm really glad Sephora makes their own makeup, because it's pretty awesome. Period! I've always turned to them as a less expensive alternative to some of the mainstream brands & they've always come through. I picked up their Waterproof 12Hour Wear Crayon Jumbo Liner . Basically it's a big  waterproof liner. I tested it on my hand, saw it was durable and got one in black. They had great colors but I have a lot of colored pencils already, so you can never have enough black. Smokey Eye Galore!!
Next 4 picks:
*Sephora Brand Cream Lip Stain, Strawberry Kissed 03 ($12)
*Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara, Black ($10)
*Korres Lip Butter, Guava ($12)
*L'Occitane, Dry Skin Hand Cream ($10)
Ok, so speaking of Sephora brand, I got this amazing Cream Lip Stain, the shade is Strawberry Kissed 03. It's a matte, rich, strawberry red stain. I put it on using the wand w/no lip liner & it went on SO precise! It dries quickly & let me stress it's super matte, so if you're looking for any moisture, forget it. However, it's extremely vibrant!! It's perfect for when I want something bright. I'll probably wear this with just mascara, and some bronzer.
Helloooo Summer!!

I had heard about the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara for a while & just kept forgetting to get it. True story. I was really impressed with it! The wand is so teeny tiny, that it's perfect for the bottom lashes, making application a breeze! It dried nicely & I even used it for the baby lashes in the corner of my top lid to bring them out more. This is also good for extending the lashes in the outer corners.

I got a Guava flavored Lip Butter from Korres. I was introduced to this brand at the Makeup Show a few years ago & I really like them. They had a few different flavors like Pomegranate, which were tinted, but this one is clear, smells delicious & feels so silky smoothe while it melts into your lips! I used it at night and woke up w/my lips juicy plump!
Next up is one of my favorite hand creams. I usually have one in my bag at all times. It's the L'Occitane Dry Skin Hand Cream. I love the smell & feel of this cream. I will definitely be trying more products from them soon.
And last but not least...
I mentioned in a previous blog that I was looking forward to trying the fresh lip treatments & I almost bought one. I had it in my basket but the Korres lip butter stole me away. It's not like I knew how they'd feel b/c like I said, I NEVER use testers on my mouth but the smell of the Korres is what I was attracted to. I felt bad but figured I'd buy it at some point.
Well....I go to check out and the cashier gives me my birthday gift and it's a fresh, Sugar Kisses Mini Lip Duo!!! It totally made my day!! I love when things like that happens! See? This is why I like to shop ON my birthday at Sephora! :-)
I was about to go home when I saw a LUSH store staring at me so of course I went in. It's really overwhelming when you first walk in b/c there are so many scents competing w/each other so it always takes me a minute to adjust. Once inside it wears away & then you can appreciate all the bubble bath goodies they have! I LOVE bubble baths and these just make taking them a whole lot more fun!
I've used some of their lotions but I mainly buy their bubble bath fizzy balls. Most look like scoops of ice cream while others are shaped like robots, planets & flowers.
I got a Honey Butterball & a Vanilla Fountain. They also gave me a free sample of their Karma Kreme, which I loved. It's a nicee blend of florals & patchouli. It's strong so a little goes a long way.
Honey Butterball ($4.95)
Vanilla Fountain ($6.25)

Lastly, I regret to inform you of my Godiva treats that sadly did not make it into this photo album b/c I ate them almost as quickly as I bought them.
Actually, that's not true at all, I have NO regrets about how quickly I devoured my chocolates! LOL
It was my birthday & I'm a woman who loves her chocolate, give me a break! :-)
For the record it was my Mom who introduced me to the ever indulgent world of Godiva. For as long as I can remember, she's always loved them and we always gave & received them as gifts. So, that deserves a big Thanks MOM!!! Xo
Keep it Prettie!!
