Baroque At Its Best

By Ingridd @cosytraveler

After our stroll along the river, Lars and I visited the Carmelite Church of Györ:

At the outside, you only see a yellow facade with little decoration. Once you enter inside, it’s a completely different matter… We first thought that there was a church service going on, because lots of people were praying and that we had to leave again. When we realized there was no priest present, we discretely continued with the visit and took pictures.

The church is an example of early Italian Baroque. Think detailed decoration in vibrant colors. Everywhere. The ceiling, the windows, the altar, … The magnificence was simply overwhelming. This is without any doubt one of the most beautiful churches we have ever seen!

This is the address: 9011 Győr, Aradi vértanúk útja 2, Hungary. You can see all the pictures here.
