Synopsis

One night. No strings. And a really good puck.

Five years ago, Astrid O’Malley experienced the ultimate in public humiliation. Being dumped at the altar by her childhood sweetheart was horrifying enough. That fact that he was a professional hockey goalie and her dad was his coach? It was all anyone in sports could talk about.

Eff hockey. Eff goalies.

These days, Astrid lives a life (mostly) free of hockey and free to pursue whoever she wants with exactly zero shame in her game. Like tonight’s hook-up. This guy’s nailed the lumberjack aesthetic perfectly. Especially when he has the stamina and creativity to back it up.

Because the rule is: it’s one night only. Which is gonna be a problem because she’s just discovered he lives in the apartment upstairs.

And he’s joined her dad’s team. As the goalie coach. To train her ex.

Now Astrid is in some kind of hockey hell–filled with her ex, her family, and the best sex of her life. And somehow she’s been roped back onto the team.

Puck my life.

My Thoughts

The sport that goes with Romance and Spice right now is hockey.  In Avery Flynn’s latest book ‘Walk of Shame’ which is part of the Downside to Dating series she puts Hockey as the main focus of how Astrid and Cal see each other past the one night they spent together.

‘Walk of Shame’ is a great book to read (or in my case listen to).  Some moments make you chuckle, go awe and the spice is there to make you need the water and Avery was able to bring in Taylor Swift’s ‘You Belong To Me’ somehow in the story. Not only once did she do this but a few different times.

When it comes to audiobooks the writing needs to be on point as well as the narration. I have to say they picked the right people to help tell this story.  Savannah Peachwood has been on other audiobooks I have listened to and she is so great when telling a story.  I couldn’t see Astrid being done by anyone else.  Robert Hatchet is one I haven’t heard of before, but he does such a great job as Cal I couldn’t see anyone else being able to top his performance. Savannah and Robert did such a good job. I hope they do more books together. They were able to help get that steam up.

Now I’m sure you are probably wondering what I would give ‘Walk of Shame’ for a rating.  Well, I would give these a solid 4 stars.  It was a great story that has everything I am looking for in a story to escape the real world (which let’s face it the real-world sucks at this moment).  The Sizzle rating is a 4! Trust me, this was great when it came to sizzling but also giving a story.

The audiobook of ‘Walk of Shame’ is available wherever you get your audiobooks. **I would like to thank NetGalley and RB Media for the ARC copy of this book. Getting the ARC Copy did not influence my thoughts on the book as they are all my own.**
