What’s new Metaheads! I going to introduce today a fantastic Metal band from Venezuela called Atlantica, which has release a great new album entitled “Memorias de una Luz entre las Sombras” (2014).
Atlantica was born in Maracaibo in 2004 when Henry Luengo (vocalist) and Eduardo Espinosa (drummer), highly influenced by European Power Metal, decided to start a new musical project based in Power Metal sound with their own personal style and a fresh Latin American touche.
The band has suffered many change on its line-up along several years, but they have been trying to stablish a solid Atlantica’s line-up and they released a single entitled “Mi Santuario” in 2006, which they have promoted in some local festivals like Metal Unido and Metal Madness.
After some new change in the line-up of the band in 2007, they take a new horizon as a band and the evolution of their sound will be reflected in their new concerts. They play in several festivals like Metal Maracaibo, Metal Unido or Halloween and finally they start new compositions in 2008 for their new material, which will be an EP entitled “Destino”.
This new EP was released in 2009 and it has been presented in an event called “Música Por Una Vida” undertaken for the benefit of children with cancer, in which have participated several local bands. After that, Atlantica goes a step futher in its career an it plays as supporting band for Brazilian Metallers Angra.
“Destino” EP is in my opinion a very good release from these guys in which we can find great songs like “Al Final Del Alba” with fantastic Progressive Metal touches, “Laberinto De Recuerdos, Esperanzas Destruídas”, another amazing and poweful track based in Power Metal with some Symphonic elements or the fantastic song “Ven A Soñar”, another highly recommended Power Metal track in the EP.
After their presence in some new events and local festivals and the release of a compilation entitled “El Inicio” (2012), Atlantica has been working hard until now in the recording of their new material, and finally these guys release an amazing new album in 2014, entitled “Memorias de una Luz entre las Sombras”.
Starting with an epic instrumental track with great orchestral arrangements, we can enjoy in the album fantastic songs like “Exogénesis”, a Power Metal track with Progressive Metal touches very cool or the amazing “Redención”, another powerful an intense track highly recommend in the album. “Última Página” with nice keywords is a very emotional song which will increase the intensity to more amazing progressive sounds, I think this song is the most intense and dark in the album.
I also like and recommend “El Dilema”, an awesome Power Metal track with fantastic guitar solos and keyboards which has a glorious and epic undertone, I like this song so much! You can enjoy “El Dilema” by clicking the following link.

In general, I think Atlantica has a highly recommended Power Metal sound, full of Progressive Metal touches and some symphonic elements, with impressive lyrics about destiny, life and death or dreams and hopes, and I totally think they have a high virtuosity as musicians.
