April Fool's Day in France

A. reminded me that when my children were little, they would wake up on April Fool's Day and find poissons d'avril (April fish) all over the house. "I would open the refrigerator and there would be a fish!"

In France, it's a fun tradition that children (and sometimes adults) try to stick paper fish onto people's backs without their knowing. Sometimes you see some very elegant man walking down the street on the first of April in Paris, unaware of a yellow fish flapping off his jacket.

My children are too old for April fish now and I had completely forgotten it was April Fool's yesterday until I came down the stairs and found this on the building's elevator.
