The 18th annual Prism Award nominees have some connections to True Blood. The Prism Awards recognize movies, television shows, music, comics, and online content that depicts the issues of alcohol and drug use, tobacco use, and mental health issues accurately.
Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) has been nominated in the internet performance category for her role as Katie in the WIGS online series Susanna where she played a new mother struggling with post-partum depression. Susanna as a whole was also nominated in online programming. This is the first year Prism has considered online programming.
But the True Blood connection doesn’t stop there. The Story of Luke, featuring Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pamela Sywnford de Beaufort), was nominated in the feature films focus on mental health category. And The Butler, featuring Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynolds), was also nominated in the feature film focus on substance use category.
The awards ceremony will be held on April 14th, 2014.
