Amelia Rose Blaire Zac DeZonAmelia Rose Blaire (Willa Burrell) started out as a young woman who empathized with the plight of vampires at the start of True Blood season 6 and ended it as the newest addition to Eric Northman’s (Alexander Skarsgård) family. Blaire recently sat down with the Huffington Post to discuss True Blood. Details on the newest and final season remain scarce. The actress did characterize it as bittersweet and wild ride however.

Like many of the current and past True Blood cast members, Blaire boasts a host of theater credits prior too appearing on the HBO series. How does theater prepare someone to be on True Blood? She says that classics like Shakespeare and Chekov give an actor a lot of explore and play because of their attention to nuance and detail with characters. This helps her take on some of the challenges that True Blood brings. So why is the show so appealing and have such a great fan base? Amelia Rose Blaire says that its all about the balance it creates:

“I think the show has created a remarkable balance between being authentic to the lure ofthe vampire while remaining relevant and at times a bit controversial. The show is very sensual and very sexual, but it also explores the persecution of a race, prejudice and has never been afraid to take on hot topics that address basic “human” rights, the role of free will as well as acceptance.”

The series features strong female characters which is something Amelia loves and enjoys from the writing on the show. Usually, she says, we see women attracted to the “bad boy” but in True Blood we also see men attracted to a strong woman. As for her character Willa, Amelia Rose Blaire feels like she has a lot in common with her including compassion:

“I like to think I have a great deal in common with Willa as she has been able to endure great change and transition in her life. She is also capable of and not afraid to show a great deal of love as well as compassion. She is deeply concerned about her father and the plight of the vampires and as such exudes empathy for both. I have many friends who would be considered part of a “minority” and I feel for them and love and support them. At a time when LGBT issues are at the forefront, like Willa I want to be part of the movement toward understanding and equality and for that I think she and I are forever linked.”

The interview ended with Amelia revealing that her biggest pet peeve is road rage. She finds it alarming and disturbing because violence in a moving vehicle is never a solution.

Willa will be returning to our screens this summer on HBO. True Blood is currently in production.
