Nashville, Oct. 26, 2015 – All Them Witches, who are in the midst of a North American tour with The Sword and Kadavar, is streaming their new album, Dying Surfer Meets His Maker (Oct. 30, New West Records) via Brooklyn Vegan (http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2015/10/stream_all_them.html).
Dying Surfer Meets His Maker is a move into even more chilled-out territory for the psych-rockers. It's a quiet, immersive, richly textured record that takes its time worming its way into your brain,” said the outlet of the Nashville-based rock band’s nine-song, New West Records’ debut. Revolver Magazine, who awarded the release four stars, said the album inhabits “a corner of the cosmic crust where the spacy introspection of Pink Floyd meets the down-home groove of the Allman Brothers and the bong-addled whomp of Sleep…”
“While the songs may be enjoyed individually, in my mind, the balance is only complete when the album is played as a whole," explained singer/bass player Michael Parks. The band, who are known for letting the mood dictate live performances, recorded the album in a gritty cabin, atop of an isolated mountain overlooking the tourist mecca of Pigeon Forge, Tenn. which Parks said effected the “duality that happens throughout this record, that of the solitude of the mountain and the absolute Babylon that is Pigeon Forge.”
