Afternoon Tea Saison – Situation Brewing

By Mike @mikescraftbeer

From Situation Brewing in Edmonton comes their "Afternoon Tea Saison". The beer pours a cloudy orange with a white head. The aroma transitions between mango and tea flavours while being fairly sweet on the nose. The flavour is of lots of mango, with tea behind it, wheat and spices in the finish. The alcohol content comes in at 6% with an IBU of 25. Not being a tea fan I always wonder if I will like a tea based beer. Luckily for me this beer is well made and easy for even me to enjoy especially on a hot summer day.

Commercial Description: Not your grandmother's saison! Unless she likes tea, in which case she's gonna dig it. This beer was brewed with heaps of Oolong mango tea. Spicy phenolics on the nose give way to biscuity malts. The tea addition adds fun, dynamic layers of flavour to the saison. Mild tannins close out the finish.
