Yesterday, Acer officially unveiled the new Liquid Jade S smartphone, which is company’s first device with a 64-bit chipset.

The dual-SIM Liquid Jade S boasts a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of expandable built-in storage. It also comes with a 5” display and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and features the ‘Zero Air Gap’ tech – this means that the air between the panel and LCD has been removed to improve readability and reduce reflection. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and the device runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

On the back of the handset is a 13-megapixel camera, and there’s a 5-megapixel shooter in the front, which should be great for taking selfies. The Jade S is powered by a 2,300mAh battery, and offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB, and GPS/A-GPS.

The phone will launch on December 18 in Taiwan, at the price of around $224 (6,990 TWD), and the company is also planning to launch it in India. We’re yet to find out if it will arrive to other markets, including the US.
