Have I confessed my love for candy? Love cannot even sum up my true addiction. So, when Halloween comes around, you bet I am excited to go door-to-door and collect as many goodies as possible. Even if it means being in the dark and getting scared.

Unlike, other celebrations (ex: Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines), Halloween is the only time of year where people can scare you, chase you, and haunt you just for fun. The creativity is endless when it comes to finding the best way to accelerate our hearts, and we will witness it on ABC’s The Great Halloween Fright Fight.

Tonight, ABC premieres The Great Halloween Fright Fight, a one hour special, that features a number of families competing for the greatest haunted Halloween displays and a $50,000 prize. The families were chosen through an extensive nationwide search.

Sabrina Soto, one of the world’s most sought after lifestyle experts, is the judge and host of the show, along with Michael Moloney.

“I was literally screaming half of the time. Once I caught my breath, I would look up-close at the decor. I felt like I was a kid again.” – Sabrina Soto

The competition is judged based on three categories – Halloween Spirit, Creativity and Over-All-Design. When I spoke with Soto, she said there were all kinds of displays, including some with acres of land. “It is an experience. I was blown away with some of the haunts we went too.”

Of course, as DIY projects are in, it is no doubt that Soto mentioned a lot of haunts were handmade by the homeowners. She even gave us a slight TEASER. “One haunt had everything out of recycled wood. He made everything himself. It looked like an amusement park. It was out of this world!”

Being from LA, and for all my LA readers, I had to ask if we were well represented, to which Soto replied, “Totally! The couple from LA are set designers. Their display looked like it came from a movie set.”

Now, if you are having a difficult time decorating, you’re going to get a lot of ideas by tuning in, but remember to keep it simple. Soto says that one of the biggest challenges people tend to have is over doing it. Make sure to have fun and make it festive, but don’t go overboard. She also suggested keeping the front door very welcoming for trick-or-treaters.

Make sure to tune in tonight and/or set your DVRs for 8pm when The Great Halloween Fright Fight premieres! Here is a glimpse…
