A Yellow Door

By Pmeurice
Back from holidays, sorting out pictures and experimenting paint on several papers… I found back some large sheets of Fabriano and decided to go for a quick watercolor.
Willing to go for something simple, I took out a subject that came to me as I saw it in Padstow last spring : a cottage, with a white front wall and a yellow door. I was somehow attracted by the contrast offered by the building… White walls, and a simple yellow tone, a bit of warmth… As if a painter had put a touch of color on a white piece of canvas to put something vivid and call for a longer day :

Looking at it, I should have changed a bit the composition rather than sticking to the photograph… But main idea is there : simple arrangement of colors : white, grey, red, blue, and yellow.
I am currently trying the same paper with a mix of watercolor and pastel… Maybe for a next post, if the experiment is successful.
As well! some work to do with pastels, sorting out the photographs from Brittany…
