Stats are often overrated and never tell the full story. However, if you are at the lower levels – anything below pro ball – and you are hitting around .250 or your ERA is over 5 or you are averaging an error a game, your “check engine” light is blinking.
A player might say that a coach is not playing him in the right position or hitting him in the correct spot in the lineup but when it’s all said and done at the end of the season, if the player’s stats are poor then the coach is not the one to blame. Remember, the coach doesn’t pitch for you nor does he hit for you.
If your baseball season is over and your stats are not great then do something about it. Complaining about the coach will not help. Take responsibility and make some adjustments.
