You may remember last Christmas I told you we were big fans of the Portable North Pole. We have been getting ‘messages from Santa’ for Little Mr A for quite a few years now and he is always mesmerised by them.
When the Portable North Pole asked if we would like to try out their App I was intrigued to see what the extra features would be.
When you open the App there are a selection of things to try including an Advent Calendar, Santa’s Radar, a countdown to Christmas and Santa’s videos. There is also a special, secret parent’s area.
Little Mr A has been having great fun opening the advent calendar each day. Behind the doors are a variety of different, fun things. There are video messages from Santa and games to play. It has become a daily routine now for Little Mr A, along with his other advent calendars!
Santa’s Radar finds your location and tells you how far away from Santa you are. I can imagine this will be great fun on Christmas Eve to see how close Santa is getting to us!
The Countdown to Christmas is just that, not that Little Mr A needs reminding – he seems to know every morning when he wakes up how many days are left until Christmas!
Santa’s videos lets you view all of the video messages from Santa that you have opened in the advent calendar.
Now, onto the bit I was most looking forward to – the parent’s area! In here you can create video messages from Santa and also phone calls too! Each video or call costs 1 credit and you receive 5 credits when you purchase the App so this is plenty to get you started! You can also purchase more credits separately.
The video messages and calls are very easy to set up and you are taken through each part step by step.
For the videos you can include names, photos, information about your town and what your child wants for Christmas. You can also say whether they have been naughty or nice and whether there are any areas your child needs to improve on before Christmas. Santa usually has to tell Little Mr A to listen to Mummy and Daddy more!
The videos really are lovely and add that extra special magic to Christmas. The Santa on the videos looks just like you imagine him to look and there are lots of added details with the reindeer and elves that make them really believable.
I also created a phone call for Little Mr A. Again, you can add in lots of information and, once set up, you are called within a few minutes. Little Mr A truly believed it was Santa speaking to him and answered back in the appropriate places.
I think a phone call would be really lovely on Christmas Eve and I intend to set up another for Little Mr A.
The App is available from both the Apple store and Google Play store.
I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to add that little bit of extra magic to Christmas for their children this year.
