A Bachelorette Weekend in Chicago

By Cait @caitscozycorner
Happy Monday friends! I’m writing from Chicago while I hang out with my Dad today! Phew! What a weekend it was celebrating my cousin Megan. If you’re new around my blog, my cousin Megan is like my older sister ( we’re only 8 months apart ) and she’s getting married in a mere MONTH so we had part  1 of her bridal showers on Friday and her Bachlorette party Saturday with the rest of the bridal party crew + all her friends! It was an absolute blast! I’ll take you through it day by day!
Friday
I arrived late into Chicago Thursday night and was able to sleep in Friday morning ( a huge rare with not traveling with 2 kids or my husband ha ) at my parents home who live in a suburb about 40 minutes away from the city. My aunt’s were also in town so it was so nice to catch up with them over coffee and a light breakfast before our day began. We ran errands to Costco and put a few finishing touches on some great DIY décor my Mom had done for the bridal shower and even got our nails and makeup done. Later on that night, we attended Meg’s big event with so many friends and family members at Maggiano's LIttle Italy. I kept getting flashbacks of my own bridal shower that was hosted in the same place about 6 years ago! I loved every moment.
After the party, I hopped in the car with my sister, cousin and Aunt and we made our way down to Chicago. My sister and I hung out her place and talked until the wee hours of the morning ( typical us ) until we finally forced ourselves to go to sleep.

Saturday
We woke up Saturday morning, grabbed coffee and then met a few of Meg’s friends at the historic Grand Lux Café for a lovely brunch. It was really nice to sit and chat with so many of her friends that I wasn’t able to at the shower the night before as well as talk all things wedding and Megan! Ha! After a filling brunch, a few of the girls shopped and took my cousin to get her hair done before the big night while the rest of the bridal party headed to the hotel to decorate for our festive night out.
We booked a room at The Hotel InterContental, the same destination my cousin is having her wedding, which we thought was pretty fitting and great location since it’s near the Magnificent Mile. Once decorations and everything was in place, the guests arrived and it was time to party! We had some hilarious games + a video Megan’s fiancé made to answer questions. It was hysterical. Afterwards we ate ( pizza from Lou Malnati's of course because all things deep dish pizza) and grabbed a party bus for a night of dancing and a few adult beverages.
Sunday
My mom came into the city and after we cleaned up from the party, Morgan and I met up with her to do some shopping, something the three of us haven’t done since high school! It was so great just the three of us laughing, talking and catching up together. After a long day, my Mom and I traveled home and fell asleep rather early because of such a long and fun weekend.
Phew! What a super fun and amazing weekend celebrating such a milestone for my cousin! Although the weather was a bit chilly ( no surprise there for the Midwest ) it was filled with so much love, laughter and above all else, pure bliss for our bride to be! Cheers to the new Mrs. G and her wedding in a few weeks!
