One would hope by now that some avid explorer might have stumbled upon the fountain of youth, if it existed, however in reality the last thing cosmetic companies want is for us to have access to such a fountain as they rely on our fear of aging to market to us.

Now, in reality, the majority of potions we put on our skin are superficial quick fixes that don’t provide sustainable benefits as they don’t go much beyond being skin deep (unless they have a pharmaceutical licence) meaning they are usually replenishing the first two layers of skin cells (that are actually dead).

If you really want better skin, for instance, you shouldn’t need to take out finance with your bank or Bonsai Finance, in fact, the answer doesn’t cost that much money at all – nature seems to provide us with some of the best remedies and in particular, a clean, natural diet that nourishes our body will have much greater effect on our skin and appearance than anything we put on our skin.

Similarly, looking and feeling younger extends beyond being just skin deep – feeling younger is about having more energy, vitality and wellness; more enthusiasm for life and get up and go.

Here are 10 tips to help you in your quest to look and feel younger:

  1. GET MORE SLEEP

Experts recommend we get between six and nine hours of sleep each night.

If you struggle getting to sleep then you might want to consider hypnotherapy or guided relaxation videos on YouTube that can help ensure you get the deep sleep required for your brain frequency to slow down sufficiently to replenish and repair your body.

In terms of looking at the visible effects of increased sleep, it can actually take up to 6 weeks to see and feel the effects of getting a consistent good night’s sleep, but soon you will see a reduction in the dark circles around your eyes and much higher energy levels.

  1. NURTURE YOUR SKIN

We all know how important it is to moisturise and replenish our skin on a daily basis in order to keep it soft and looking young, but a lot of times we are putting potions on our body that aren’t fully absorbed by the skin, instead they form more of a shiny barrier that sits in the top two layers.  Therefore, you might want to consider moisturising with a simple and organic product like aloe vera; as this will actually nourish your skin with vital nutrients such as amino acids, vitamins and minerals.

  1. NOURISH YOUR SKIN FROM THE INSIDE OUT

We are often keen to reach for a magic cream to replenish our skin – but our skin is an organ that offers an external representation of our internal biology.

If you are getting spots, for instance, or psoriasis then you want to be treating this from the inside out – where you nourish your body with good nutrition.  For instance, if you want younger looking and more radiant skin then you’ll want to ensure you’re eating plenty of Omega 3, 6 and 9 oils.

  1. DO MORE EXERCISE

Not only does exercise help keep you lean, and mentally sharp, it has been proven to boost your energy levels which will ensure you feel young as well as look younger.  In the most part, slim and toned people tend to look younger as being overweight can age you in a similar way to how smoking can age you.  If you don’t fancy going to your local gym, then simply head out for a walk or run with your favorite music on.

  1. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

Drinking water is absolutely vital for the function of all our organs, and in particular our skin.  Did you know that one of the main causes for dark circles around your eyes is due to dehydration rather than a lack of sleep?

  1. KEEP ON TOP OF YOUR APPEARANCE

Getting a trendy haircut isn’t only great for your self-esteem and personal pride but it’s a fantastic way to look and feel younger. Similarly, ensuring you have nice clean teeth, and trimmed nails are all important to feeling good about yourself.  Admittedly, trimming your nails is not going to trim the years of your appearance, but it will make you feel more confident and vibrant – meaning you will feel a lot better in yourself.

  1. CHOOSE YOUR WARDROBE WISELY

In a similar vein to keeping your hairstyle current and on trend, or taking care to keep your nails in shape, it’s important to choose your wardrobe wisely – as the clothes you wear are an external reflection of who you are on the inside; in many ways it’s like a banner that tells the world what you’re about… if you wear fun, bold and vibrant clothes then you’re more likely to attract fun, bold and vibrant people into your life.

  1. LAUGH MORE

The more you laugh the more energised you feel as your body is filled with feel good hormones known as endorphins, similarly, these can be released as a result of physical intimacy – anything you can do to put yourself in a positive and happy state is going to lift your moon and make you feel more vibrant and energetic.  Similarly, whilst some people would advise not to laugh due to ‘laughter lines’ the reality is that beauty is just as much on the inside as on the outside, and therefore, it boils down to how you feel inside and how you make other people feel inside… that’s what attractiveness often boils down to.

In summary, there is not a particular pot of lotion that you can purchase to make you look and feel younger – it has to be a holistic effort from the inside out.  Whilst cosmetic interventions can be helpful, to some people, a lot of times they end up pronouncing the fact we are aging, if the cosmetic surgery is apparent to people.

The best advice, therefore, is to tend to your desire to look and feel younger by adopting a healthier lifestyle.
