2012! 2012!! 2012!!! Hurray! Year 2012 was a memorable year for all either good or bad. 2012 was a sweet year for me because it was the year I brought onenaijablog to life and so many other good things but hey! Sweet wouldn’t feel good if bitter is not there to assist, right? There were bumps on the way which we manage to conquer and move on smiling.
There were some things I learned when I was passing through 2012 and most of the experiences are going to be shared in a short while. Bone what people are telling you, the blogging world is not easy at all but hey! If you are new to the system then it is better to learn from the people before you so you can avoid being hit by the hard storm called “the hard life of a blogger”.
On my today’s post, I will be sharing a little about so much stuff and giving you the things I learned as a blogger in 2012.
WHAT I LEARNED IN 2012 AS A BLOGGER
KNOWING THE STRENGTH OF YOUR HOSTING COMPANY
I officially launched my blog (onenaijablog) on November 2012 but the blog was actually created on July 2012. The reason the blog did not kick off on July was because I did not know how hosting works, so I registered with a hosting provider that was “should I say” unsatisfactory? The host was bad in the sense that my bandwidth was not enough and my site always go on and off like a switch. I managed the bad hosting company from July till October.
A friend “Dr Sam” said to me with this exact quote “your blog is great but you’ll not go anywhere with a host like that” the word gingered me so I started researching for a stronger and a reliable hosting company to host my blog. I asked friends and also make inquiries till I met my hosting company. Since then my blog is doing great and I am having no problem with them and they assist when you need them.
If you are just starting the blogging world newly, it would be best to make a proper research first before buying a host from any hosting company.

GETTING TRAFFIC TO YOUR BLOG
Whoever say blogging is easy then that person is still dreaming. There is no way blogging could be that easy, writing might be easy for you but what about traffic? Getting traffic is the major stuff we new bloggers face in the blogging world Being online every day, commenting on other blogs, submitting your blog to social networks, social bookmark sites and of course search engines just to get traffic to your blog. And to be honest with you, if you are lazy you’ll never get anywhere in this part of the online world.
As a newbie, you got to put seriousness to play, always write interesting stuffs. I know you think blogging is just for fun; yes it is fun to do and yet it pays to blog, you can be blogging and earn smartly online without breaking a sweat.

HAVING PROBLEM WITH BOUNCE RATE
When you’re getting traffic to your blog, then other stuffs/ problems will start coming along. Bounce rate is a serious problem we bloggers face. When I started blogging, I never knew what’s bounce was or I don’t even think I’d get such problem until I started getting traffic to my blog. The thing is, I never knew bounce rate could screw up a website till I read about it, so what next? By not giving up I learned some few tricks on how to reduce my bounce rate which I implemented and boom it worked I got my site back to normal. When you’re getting traffic to your blog, you should always lookout for the virus called “bounce rate”.

SECURITY AND MAINTENANCE
When you’re getting that good amount of traffic to your blog, it is encouraging to tighten up your security. Nothing in life is perfect so I try as much to keep my blog maintained and tightened. I have had some security issues in the past which I’d not elaborate on, but it is for the best if you’d always maintain your blog, doing backups regularly and also check for security notifications to know a better how of securing your blog.
