4 Simple Ways to Build Up Your Email List

For small businesses, the customer or client list is at the heart of the operation. The goal of customer recruitment is to keep them around for longer than a single sale or experience, after all. A smartly built and maintained email list can ensure that your small business remains on the mind of your customers long after the initial interaction.  

An effective email list does not need to take a long time to create; you can accelerate your list building with the right approach and resources. Take a look at just a few of the ways to build a solid email list quickly:

Ask on your website. Getting prospective customers to your website via a search engine or advertising is no small feat; once they have arrived, ensure that they continue to receive your messages by having them sign up for your email list. Have an easy signup box on the homepage, and make sure every other page of content has one visible too.

Ask on your blog. If you have a blog that is separate from your website, be sure you are asking for email signups here too. You can also register for a blog subscription service so readers can ensure that they never miss one of your posts. Like the website, you can place this box on your blog’s homepage and also at the bottom of each individual post.

Use your signature line. Have a link to your email signup list spelled out in the signature line that you attach to every email that you send out. This eliminates the need for someone to ask you for it and may pick up a few extra email list subscribers along the way.

Use social media. As companies continue to invest more in social media strategies, look for ways to return some of that time and resource commitment back to your small business. Make sure you give your social media fans the information they need to sign up for your email list by reminding them about it from time to time. Rotate the message between your social media accounts so that people who follow more than one do not feel inundated with the repeat message.

There are plenty of ways to market your small business, and building an email list is one of the most effective. By communicating directly with customers who have already indicated that they want to hear from you, there is a better chance of a sale. Make it really easy for your consumer base to sign up for your email list and that will make it even easier for your small business to succeed.
