2000 Trees 2014: VerseChorusVerse

VerseChorusVerse

“like a hot bath with limitless lush products for the spirit.” ~ Feb ’14

Immaculate, intricate and immersive, the music of VerseChorusVerse.

Tom Wright used to be in a band who my relationship with makes me sound like the worst kind of hipster. Basically from 2007-2010 they were at pretty much every festival I went to and everyone there would be saying how great they were and you couldn’t see a band without them saying how good they are and everyone should be at their slot. So of course, I never went and never have despite a dozen opportunities to do so.

You may know And So I Watch You From Afar to whom I am referring here. If you don’t they’re a post/math-rock, mostly instrumental band all genres I don’t really get. They were from Northern Ireland, known for their complex musicianship and inhumanly energetic live shows.

To say that VCV isn’t quite the same prospect as ASIWYFA is obvious and the disparity is such that they don’t bear comparison…

“… whilst he still says things into the microphone, these days he SINGS. And what beautiful words.

When I first heard this music I couldn’t stop listening. You can compare his music to a lot of things; standing atop a snowy mountain at sunrise, submerging in the sea in summer, basically this music was made for any massive endorphin inducing event or moments of ultimate peace.
