2000 Trees 2014: Jamie Lenman- It’s Hard To Be A Gentleman // All The Things You Hate About Me, I Hate Them Too

Jamie Lenman returns with a double A-side single for Record Store Day 2014, which has recently become one of the highlights of the year new music wise.

These two songs are the embodiment of Mr. Lenman’s debut double-album, Muscle Memory; light and dark, soft and heavy.

The light and completely acoustic It’s Hard to be a Gentleman features the tones of Mrs. Katie Lenman making for a charming enough opening but if you’ve been used to hearing someone yelling and suddenly they’re not, like in the “Angry Dad” episode of the Simpsons where Homer tries to chill out a bit so Bart can’t make anymore comics about him, it’s alright to say that you want the old them back there’s nothing to be ashamed of.

In All The Things You Hate About Me, I Hate Them Too you see Jamie returning to more aggressive pastures, shouting with thumping drums, pulsating bass and warped guitars. It’s all typically impassioned stuff and although they may not look like they’re particularly enjoying themselves in the video you can bet it’s going to be a riot live.

He’s recently taken to playing with a 7-piece band and horn section which you can hear here on these tracks and see live in March & April at the dates listed below and at 2000 Trees in July.

At 2000 Trees you can probably expect to hear these as well as the assurance that they have it on “very good authority” he’ll be playing some classic Reuben tracks.
