Crohn’s disease is one of the new age digestive disorders. It is basically an inflammation of the gut. Research has found that it is an immune deficiency where the immune system attacks the intestines.

So what are the symptoms of Crohn’s disease?

  • Mouth sores and ulcers

You will start getting sores in your mouth that are similar to canker sores.

  • Diarrhea

One of the most common symptoms of Crohn’s disease is diarrhea. The intestines are inflamed, irritating the colon due to which they fail to absorb all the food consumed by you.

  • Abdominal pain

This is a sign to your brain that not all is well with your stomach. The inflammation in your intestines the bowels also get the signals and send it to your brain as pain.

As the disease progresses, it leads to ulcers that cause a lot of pain.The disease is irritating your gut due to which the immune system is sending pain signals to your nervous system.

  • Blood in the stool

The ulcer, the inflammation of the intestines can lead to blood to be discharged from the intestine that finds it way in your stool.

  • Reduced appetite and weight loss

When your stomach is upset, there hardly can get a better reason to skip meals. When you are in constant pain and especially in the area where food is supposed to go, it might be hard to get food in and digested. So since food intake is reduced, the loss of weight is also explained.

  • Low grade fever and fatigue

The infection in the body will cause a low grade fever that will subside only when the disease will completely disappear.

  • Fatigue

The intestine is not absorbing the essential nutrients that it needs from the food for the person who is suffering from Crohn’s.

So if you have fatigue that doesn’t seem to go along with any other symptoms particularly stomach ache, better visit a doctor to verify the problem you are suffering from.

  • Anal diseases

A person with Crohn’s disease can suffer from various anal conditions that include anal fissures, perianal disease and others that cause a lot of pain and discomfort. If you feel any pain, bleeding or inflammation in the anal area be sure to visit the doctor to diagnose the problem.

  • Cramping

Before or after meals, the stomach might experience cramping that is a sign about Crohn’s. The disease causes so much inflammation that the food does not break down as it should, thereby leading to cramping.

  • Nausea

When a person suffers from digestive issues, the body automatically starts feeling nauseous. Treating the Crohn’s disease only will reduce the feelings, while over the counter nausea meds will alleviate the nauseous feeling.

Crohn’s disease is not one to be taken lightly. So if you suffer from any of these symptoms do visit your medical practitioner to treat the disease, if you are suffering from it.
