    Julius Avery’s The Pope’s Exorcist is coming to the cinemas following on from his previous excellent movie Overlord. Before we go and watch the latest movie on exorcism, it might be good to check out a few from the past. It has become a sub-genre of horror that has had the right mixture of quality over the years.

    In what is a chaotic movie, it shows how far people will go to make money. It shows how using people’s beliefs can come back to haunt them. The Cleansing Hour doesn’t hold back and is one of the best streaming platform-based movies.

    Deliver Us from Evil is based on a series of real cases investigated. Where this movie stands up by using the fact the police officer isn’t big on religion and doesn’t believe in evil. The movie is filled with suspenseful moments and disturbing horror moments that balance with real life. It all leads to one of the best exorcism sequences in modern cinema too.

    The movies might not solely focus on the exorcisms, but they both have a chance to see how a calmer exorcism unfolds. While The Conjuring The Devil Made Me Do It, might not be the most popular in the franchise. The opening sequence does have one of the best exorcism sequences with very real consequences to what happens.

This is one of the films that pushed the exorcism movies back into mainstream horrors in a smart way too.

    While The Wailing doesn’t focus on a pure exorcism premise, it is one of the greatest modern horror movies. It is one of the many excellent horrors coming out from South Korea in recent years.
