Posted on the 15 September 2015 by Devender Singh @DevenderSingh93

YU Televentures which is a online only sub brand of the domestic king player Micromax, a week ago propelled a mid-budget 4G smartphone the YU Yunique in India at Rs. 4,999. The smartphone will be solely available on Snapdeal through flash sales gazing September 15. While the gadget specs seem amazing at the cost, is it truly justified regardless of the buy? Read our review to find it out.

YuUnique

Design and Build

Although the device looks pretty much similar to Yuphoria but we will like to name this smartphone the younger brother of Yuphoria with similar design. The front is decent and dark. The display touchscreen is 4.7-inch HD Corning Gorilla glass display, which impressed us with its brightness, yet it is marginally reflective also and does get smudge marks on it.

On the top the display sits the front 2-megapixel camera with proximity sensor, encompassing light sensor, earpiece grill with notification LED inside, and an exceptionally unobtrusive YU marking in the middle. The body of this smartphone is completely built with plastic but it doesn’t make it feel cheap at all.

YuUnique back

It weighs 128 grams and is of the dimensions 134.5×67.5×8.3mm, making it suitable for one hand operation. In general, my personal opinion of the design outline and built quality of YU Yunique Is that the gadget looks and feels premium at the cost.

Display

The display is decent and bright. We didn’t noticed any color over-saturation anywhere. Videos seem great on this 720p screen and the viewing edges are entirely OK too. Daylight neatness is minimal poor in view of reflecting screen. There is one little issue, the touch is somewhat over delicate.

Yu Unique front

Overall the display quality of the device is better considering the price segment.

Performance & OS

Yu Yunique comes with a powerful 1.2 GHz quad-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU & 1GB of RAM.

Yu Unique OS

The hardware mix on papers is doubtlessly great at the cost, yet it doesn’t convey in actuality. During multitasking we did noticed lags and the RAM feel insufficient sometime. But we still feel Yunique is definitely and convincing player.Discussing the overall gaming experience, the device manages to smoothly run popular games like Temple Run, Subway Surfer etc… but it lags a lot while heavy game play i.e. Asphalt 8.

Coming to OS part, YU Yunique runs most recent Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-case. The software is almost stock Android. The OS runs smooth and all the more essentially there is next to no per-installed bloatware by the organization. It also supports OTG video playback which needless to say can definitely attract anyone.

Camera

The YU Yunqiue has a 8-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED Flash, alongside a 2-megapixel front camera, 83Degree Wide angle lens, and f/2.4 aperture.

Yu Unique Camera

The shutter speed and auto focus ability of the camera is really impressive for this budget.Although the overall performance of the camera in low light and poor lighting conditions is just okay. The pictures taken by the camera in low light conditions contains too much noise and is a bit disappointing.

Conclusion

To conclude, Yu Yunique is a really decent choice, particularly in case you’re hoping to purchase a low cost smartphone or wanting to get one for your kids. It ticks all the privilege boxes and does all the tasks. In the event that anyway, you feel that stock Android experience is exhausting and need more customization options, then you can install custom ROM’s also.
