Have you ever wanted to touch the sky? There are places on the Earth where the distance between you and the clouds is so little that maybe you can touch the sky? Well, these places are magical and far from civilization. One of these is Capanna Margherita at 4554 meters on the Punta Gniffetti . We are on the Monte Rosa , magnificent mountain in the Italian Alps . You cannot go there during the winter because it is dangerous and the Capanna Margherita is closed. Anyway you can get there in the summer . You will be catapulted into a magical world, out of time dimension . Capanna Margherita was built in the Nineteenth century. It is also an important place for the metereological observations . This refuge is the highest in Europe , so if you wish to be on the roof of Europe- like me-here it is the right place. The panorama will take your breath away. The first ten minutes you will be enchanted and you will ask in your mind: is it true what I'm seeing ? Yes, my friends, it is true.

Why is it called Margherita? Because it was dedicated to Queen Margherita , who went there. In 1903 it was recognized as an important place for science by the International Council of Academies in London. We can say it is an important place , built with difficulty because in the Nineteenth century there weren’t so much technologies as today . Furthermore the mountain has always preserved its authenticity , giving men a hard time .The rise to the refuge is to be done with some expert guides and you have to be trained , it is not a path for everyone. Like every time you go to high mountain , you have to check your blood pressure and you have to be sure don’t have any heart problems. Be safe when you want to do these kind of excursions. Non avete mai desiderato toccare il cielo con un dito? Se vi dicessi che ci sono luoghi nel mondo dove la distanza tra voi e le nuvole è minore e se allungate il dito forse il cielo lo toccate?Questi posti sono magici e lontani dalla civiltà. Uno di questi è il rifugio Margherita a ben 4554 metri sulla Punta Gniffetti. Siamo sul Monte Rosa, magnifica montagna nelle Alpi Italiane. Avvicinarsi al rifugio d’inverno non è possibile e infatti resta chiuso. Si può però pensare di arrivarci d’estate ed essere catapultati in un mondo magico che sembra essere sospeso in una dimensione fuori dal tempo. Il rifugio fu costruito nel XIX secolo ed è oggi anche un punto di osservazione fisico meteorologico. Questo rifugio è il più alto d’Europa, quindi se avete il desiderio, come me di potervi sentire sul tetto d’Europa ecco il posto giusto. Il panorama è da levare il fiato. Così bello da rimanere incantati i primi dieci minuti e domandarsi: ma esiste davvero quello che sto vedendo? La risposta è sì. Perché si chiama Margherita? Perché fu dedicato alla regina Margherita,che andò lì . Nel 1903 fu riconosciuto come luogo di utilità scientifica dal Consiglio internazionale delle Accademie a Londra. Insomma un posto importante, costruito a fatica visto che nel XIX secolo le tecnologie non erano sviluppate come oggi e in ogni caso la montagna non facilita l’insediamento ma tende a conservare la sua genuinità rendendo la vita difficile all’uomo. La salita al rifugio è da farsi con guide esperte e se siete allenati, non è un percorso per tutti. Come ogni volta che si va a grandi altezze verificate che la vostra pressione sia giusta e preferite verificare anche la salute del cuore. Queste passeggiate non si fanno irresponsabilmente. Quando sarete lassù e vi domanderete se il paradiso abbia quelle sembianze ricordatevi sempre che la montagna e il cielo sono i veri protagonisti e voi siete dei piccoli ospiti.
