You Can Do Hard Things (AND I'M GOING TO BE AN SLP!)
YOU GUYS. GUESS WHAT.

I AM GOING TO GRADUATE SCHOOL TO BECOME A SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST. WHAT? I KNOW. I FREAKING KNOW!

All of the hard work that I've put in over the last (almost) two years paid off. It is happening!

I applied to six schools. SIX. Kind of overkill, but ya do what ya gotta do. I found out that I got into NYU's SLP program on January 19, but I kept quiet about it because I had no intentions of actually attending (tuition for a private school...yikes). Well on Friday (February 3) I was casually checking my e-mail and I saw "Admissions Decision" in a subject line staring back at me. My second choice school's (Florida State University) admission decision was just hanging out in my inbox. CUE ALL THE FEELS. I quickly clicked the attachment and when I saw the phrase, "It is my pleasure to inform you..." I lost all emotional control. I DID IT, I'M GOING TO BECOME AN SLP!
I haven't heard back from my first choice school yet (The University of South Florida), but I have high hopes! It's SO comforting to know that no matter what happens, I will start grad school in August. *releases deep breath and allows shoulders to fall*
I'll be the first to say, the last few years have been HARD. I'm not going to sugar coat it. I've made so many sacrifices. I've spent many nights on my office floor crying over studying for neuroanatomy and the GRE. Many nights on my couch crying wondering if I made the right choice (aka am I smart enough for this). I've missed birthdays and beach days. The list goes on. But it was all worth it. It all paid off. Because I put my mind to it. I committed to doing this even though it's hard. And you know what? YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS, TOO. Decide that you're going to and do it. You are stronger than you think and capable of more than you know.

Get after it, girlfriend.

xo, Jess
