Raise one last glass with the Quinn Family at the Winter Street Inn.

It’s been too long since the entire Quinn family has been able to celebrate the holidays under the same roof, but that’s about to change. With Bart back safe and sound from Afghanistan, the Quinns are preparing for a holiday more joyous than any they’ve experienced in years. And Bart’s safe return isn’t the family’s only good news: Kevin is enjoying married life with Isabelle; Patrick is getting back on his feet after paying his debt to society; Ava thinks she’s finally found the love of her life; and Kelly is thrilled to see his family reunited at last. But it just wouldn’t be a Quinn family gathering if things went smoothly. A celebration of everything we love–and some of the things we endure–about the holidays, WINTER SOLSTICE is Elin Hilderbrand at her festive best.

Who doesn’t love an Elin Hiilderbrand book? Especially when it’s the fourth book in a series. Winter Solstice was the finale – the tying up the loose ends in the Quinn family dramas. I’m telling you the truth – I loved this group of characters. They were a real family with real drama, real humor and lots of real love. The series itself takes place over the last four years with each book set at Christmas. I loved that this one started at Halloween too, so I could dig right in and not wait until December to read it!

This is Bart’s story and highlights the trials that soldiers face when returning from war. The Inn is once again bustling as the family returns for one last giant Christmas celebration.

The characters in the Quinn series are richly drawn and have all the flaws of the people you know in your own life. If you buy and read this, go ahead and pick up a box of tissues. You WILL need them. This book had a sad ending but it was so endearing at the same time. I’m going to miss these characters! This one was bittersweet and I finished it with tears, but I still loved the story.

Winter Solstice by Elin Hilderbrand

Elin Hilderbrand has a twin brother who is not a bestselling novelist. She does her best writing on the beaches of Nantucket, as well as on the charming streets of Beacon Hill in Boston. She has three magical children who beg her not to sing along to the radio or dance in public.

Elin Hilderbrand first discovered the magic of Nantucket in July 1993. Her recipe for a happy island life includes running, writing at the beach, picnics at Eel Point with her three children, and singing “Home, Sweet Home” at the Club Car piano bar.

I received an advanced readers digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and unbiased opinion. Thanks NetGalley!
