There are officially 41 days until the first day of Spring.
But whose counting…. {Yup. This girl.}
I don’t know about you but this Winter is sucking the life out of my skin. I turned 32 on Sunday, and although I do not have any issues about my age, I definitely feel like my skin is not as soft and supple as it was in San Diego. Since moving to the East Coast as well as being another year older, I have had to revamp my skincare regimen.
It has done wonders for my skin, so I wanted to share it with you all, in hopes of making you feel better in this chilly, chilly weather! And for all of my San Diego peeps…. If I have to hear about the cold and rain one more time, I am going to personally fly you here to shovel the two feet of snow currently covering my porch.
Skincare Tips to get that Glow even in Winter:
1.) Drink Water- Hydrate from the inside out. Drink at least 50% of your body weight in ounces. {example: you weigh 150 pounds drink at least 75 oz. of water}
2.) Change your Moisturizer when the season changes. What worked for you in the Summer will most definitely not work as well in the Winter.
2.) Exfoliate 1-2 times a week. This helps slough off dead skin, prevents acne from forming, as well as helps moisturizer better penetrate.
3.) Wear Sunscreen even in Winter! It acts as a barrier from the harsh weather, helping you retain moisture.
My Winter Skincare Regimen:
1.) Exfoliate {with 1 T. baking soda mixed with a little bit of warm water to make a paste}. Apply it like a cleanser and remove with warm water. I do this once a week.
2.) Cleanse daily with Aveeno Face Wash or Coconut Oil on a piece of cotton.
3.) Apply a serum underneath moisturizer to help lock in the moisture. {I use Elizabeth Arden Good Morning Serum or Derma-e Evenly Radiant Serum.}
4.) Apply Moisturizer/Sunscreen- {I use Derma-e Evenly Radiant Brightening Day Creme with SPF 15 in Winter and 55 SPF in Summer.}
5.) Wait about 10 minutes before applying foundation. Then I apply foundation, and in the Winter I use a cream blush because powder is too drying. I love my Nars Multiple in Orgasm… {yes that’s the name}.
6.) Then last but not least I apply a cream highlighter for that Dewy Glow. I use Benefit Cosmetics High Beam. I apply it in a T shape. To the apples of my cheeks the bridge of my nose, and a teensy bit on my brow bones.
Hope this post helped get you out of a Winter skin funk.
Did I mention I can’t wait for Spring????
