Wine and Horseback Envy

By Ceemac126 @PGCBlogging

While perusing through the million and one daily deals that stuff themselves into my inbox, I came across what looked like a great date deal: Horseback Riding + Wine Tasting.  I was prepared to find candlelight images to feature this quaint, cute couples outing, then I hit the brakes.  The horseback riding, lunch, and wine tasting are all in Frederick, MD.  That’s a cool hour or so away from here.  NOPE!  I’m trying to stay a little closer to home.  Transportation departs at 8:30 am from 918 F Street and arrives at Misty Manor Stable at 9:30am for horseback riding.  There’s a Au Bon Pain catered lunch, then you’re off to the winery at 12:15pm.  You’re tipsy and back at F St. by 3:15p  There’s another excursion that starts at 11:30 and gets you back to F Street at 6pm.  Neither for me please.  You can take a gander at the living social deal if you’re interested.  livingsocial deal

Horses

What does Prince George’s County have that’s the least bit comparable, I asked myself.  I want to experience new things.  I do, I really doThese new things must allow me to sleep in on Saturday though or no dice.  I searched and found that Prince George’s County is chock full of horse stables and horseback riding.  I thumb my nose at you surrounding area.  I won’t go into the history of Upper Marlboro and the County as a horse region, largely because I haven’t the knowledge.  Ha!Ha!  There’s a list of horse stables at the end of this post.

Romano Vineyard and Winery
But what about the candles?  What about the wine? Will you have to wait until the National Harbor Wine and Food Festival to take place this May 4th/5th in order to imbibe, wear boat shoes, and stroll through picturesque scenery with other amusingly intoxicated people?  NO! You and your love AND YOUR DESIGNATED DRIVER(s) can visit Romano Vineyard and Winery in Clinton, MD.  Whether you drink or not, it’s just a kick to know that someone in the County is actively engaged in wine making.  So cultured of us. *giggle* What would be even more cultured of us? Take a trip to Romano’s at 15715 Bald Eagle School Road. Brandywine, MD 20613,  (301-752-1103) and support their business.  And you don’t have to wake up at the crack of down and haul your rump down to F Street just to get there.  Hooray!

Wet Your Palettes
Another great time, I'm told, is at Wet Your Palettes in Hyattsville (5608 Baltimore Avenue 301.779.0879 Ext. 201) The description of an outing at Wet Your Palettes sound like fun: "Wet Your Palettes offers a creative social setting for you to express yourself artistically. Come enjoy an adult evening of painting and socializing – while sipping on your wine [or beverage] of choice!  Bring your favorite bottle of vino, and we will supply the rest! Here you can unwind after a hard day’s work, explore an alternative date night, or be at one with yourself. You will leave with an impressive painting created by YOU, and an experience you won’t forget.   Our painting classes are led by lively local artists who have a passion for their craft, They will teach you step-by-step how to recreate the painting of the evening. Our vibe is eclectic and lively – and the experience is one you won’t forget. Bring an open mind, your beverage of choice, and let your creative juices flow – we will supply all of the tools you need! No experience necessary – YOU CAN DO THIS."  I say you bring something from Romano Vineyard and paint away.  Keep it local. Note that Wet Your Palettes offers family outings too so it's not about having to bring wine.  You can have a great time and sip on lemonade.  Keep it local folks.

I feel a little better about my options now.  Yup do.
