Windows 10 Has a Release Date – July 29th

Microsoft has finally revealed the exact date for the Windows 10 release : July 29th. Despite the development still going on and various builds being updated weekly in their Windows Insider Program, the release date so early surely says Windows 10 is ready to everyone and this also means Microsoft will be working very hard to push a lot of features which were announced and not yet integrated in any of the builds. This also means loads of bug fixes would be released in the upcoming Windows Insider builds.

Starting today, all the Windows 10 features are part of universal Windows Apps, and the those will be updated soon even before getting hands on with the Windows 10 for everyone. Windows 10 Update will be the biggest update for Microsoft as it would be released not only as a standalone Windows version but also a free upgrade to all the existing Windows 8 users.

Cortana

Cortana will be completely integrated with Windows 10 now. The personal assistant will now be available even on desktop versions of Windows. It would not only sync and assist you on desktop but also on any of your smartphones.

Microsoft Edge

The all-new browser which will hopefully change the way we look at Internet Explorer. Edge is a cutting-edge browser will all the necessary features built right into it by default. Built-in web commenting via typing or inking, sharing comments on any webpage, formatting website content to make reading content easy on any website. Plus the integration of Cortana with Edge to make the browser work for you at a personal level.

Office on Windows

The new Office 2016 will offer a lot of productivity upgrades. A lot of new features are to cater the touch screens and will help you not only view or preview files via touch but also edit and update them. Excel promises to create or update spreadsheets without a keyboard or mouse. Earlier as part of Office, OneNote and Outlook are free for everyone.

Windows Continuum

Continuum promises you to seamlessly transition your work from table to PC and vice versa anytime you want. This will help laptops, 2-in-1s and Windows smartphones to be connected to a monitor, mouse and a keyboard to make them work just like a desktop PC.

Windows Hello

Hello would be your new lock screen/login which will greet you by name and smile when you log in. Logins can now be configured to work without a password and via your Windows 10 devices. Biometric authentication with your face, iris or finger will provide more secure logins which can be easily configured in Windows Hello.

Along with these are the upgraded Photos, Videos, Maps, People, Mail & Calendar apps with deep integration with OneDrive. Xbox Live and Xbox App too will be updated to help you communicate with friends on Windows 10 PCs and Xbox One while playing games on PC. A lot of Xbox updates would enable gaming features like recording, streaming, sharing etc. Windows Store will make installing, updating and uninstalling Apps easy and will also support wide range of global payment methods.
