Why You Should Invite Digital Influencers To Your Events

Influencer marketing is one of the hottest new trends of late, especially when it comes to aligning brands with digital influencers around large events.

According to Forbes, influencer marketing can be loosely defined as “a form of marketing that identifies and targets individuals with influence over potential buyers.” Influencers can include underground or niche celebrities on various social networks who command large followings.

Here are a few reasons to involve influencers at your next event, as summarized from a report on Fullscreen by Nicola Smith.

Influencers Bring Events Alive

Millennials value experiences more than owning things. Imagine how much these customers might like to meet their favorite industry movers and shakers, or their favorite social celebrities? For marketers, capitalizing on millennials love of experiences means involving influencers in live events like conferences, festivals, and live concert-style events. Forbes reported recently that 78% of millennials would spend money on an experience or event (like a concert) versus buying something desirable (like recorded music).

Influencers Make Events More Immediate

New live-streaming video apps like Periscope and Meerkat are growing in popularity and offer real-time viewing and engagement. Collaborate with digital influencers on these networks and others (Snapchat) that feature time-sensitive content to bring new urgency to your message. Visual channels like Vine and Instagram also have their own influencers with massive followings.

Images of Influencers Impress

Visually based content like selfies, memes, videos, emojis and .GIFs can help drive engagement across all channels. Audiences are hungry for visual content, which is consumed and shared more easily on mobile devices. Give your attendees someone famous or influential to include in their self-generated content (along with your brand)!

Let Influencers Lead

Influencers already know what works with their audiences. Tap into these ready-made audiences by collaborating with content creators to come up with more authentic and effective messages. Teaming up with influencers can be a way to get feedback on new product ideas before going to market, as well as creating new co-branded product lines.

Plan Ahead

When you invite top influencers, let them know in advance that you’re bringing a video crew to the event. Work to develop a relationship with your influencer by interviewing the person, then post edited videos on your website and social channels to get the most out of the content you create.
