My 3 Children

Why is there still racism in the world in the year 2013 when we live in a vastly multicultural society?

Why are some people still so narrow minded and racist?

You would have hoped by the time people reach adulthood they would have learned to be open minded and accepting of others but apparently not, racism in the 21st century is still very much alive.

My eldest 2 children are mixed race (3/4 White British and 1/4 Pakistani) and I am proud to say so and I hope that as they grow up they embrace both of their cultures.

My youngest is White British.

I love all of my children equally, regardless of their race. They are all my beautiful babies.

I bet to look at the photo you would, like many others, would be forgiven for thinking they all simply have a ‘white’ background.

My eldest daughter Izzybella-Marie is a brunette with gorgeous brown eyes to match; she catches the sun easily and tans, but is generally fair skinned like me and is 3/4 White British and 1/4 Pakistani.

My middle daughter Destinni-Ameerah has mousey brown hair with lovely blue eyes; she again catches the sun easily and tans in the summer but is generally fair skinned. She is 3/4 White British and 1/4 Pakistani.

My youngest daughter Nikkita-Rose is a brunette like her eldest sister and has beautiful blue eyes like her other sister and is again fair skinned. She is White British.

I love my children and I may not agree with some things that their fathers’ family do religion wise but I respect it and I want my children to be able to make their own decisions when they are old enough to do so.

I will love them no more or no less for their religious decisions, that goes for all three of them.

I probably shouldn’t repeat some of the things I’ve heard people call mixed race people and to be honest I don’t want too. It makes me sick. They are no less of a person for having a dual / mixed heritage and shouldn’t be treated as such.

We try to teach our children manners and to respect each other but quite frankly adults are just as bad, if not in fact worse for being abusive and racist.

We are all equal so why is there still racism in the world and why is it still allowed and tolerated?

I see comments daily on Facebook where people are being racist and it’s disgusting. There is no need for it. It’s never just one sided either.

To those people out there who think being racist is cool or makes them look ‘hard’, no sorry it doesn’t. It makes you look like a narrow minded fool.

There are over 56 million people in England and Wales, a little over 45 million of these people are White (English/Welsh/Scottish/Northern Irish/British). The remaining nearly 11 million are made up of a mixture of people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds including Gypsy/Irish Travelers, Indian, Chinese, Caribbean and those of a mixed race.

I fail to see why people are so judgmental about people who are from a different ethnic background to ourselves.

We live in a multicultural country and it is about time we learn to get along.

Why is there still racism in the world?

We as a nation need to embrace what other cultures bring to our society and make our country a beautiful multi-cultural, all respecting one.
