A few weeks ago, Ian went hunting for a week with my dad. Which meant Goose and I had a whole 7 days together. 7 days to sleep in, relax, order Thai take-out with my mom, and most importantly, decorate. Don’t get me wrong, I totally missed Ian and was so bored after 24 hours, but it was really nice to be able to re-paint the kitchen after the | Robin’s Egg Blue fiasco | and watch HGTV the whole time I did it, without worrying about Ian coming in to watch a football game. Here’s what I got done while Ian was away…
1. I made some | faux Roman shades | that I’d seen on Pinterest and love the way they turned out. They don’t go up or down, but that’s OK because we have blinds behind them that are still functional, but hidden by the cute Roman shade during the day! It’s a win-win.
2. & 3. My mom and I went thrifting and I picked up a couple old books at St. Vinnie’s that are all in the blue-green family. They add just the right amount of color to our mantle.
4. My mom and I also went to a local antique fair where I picked up 4 old soda crates at $5 each. I was thrilled when I got home to find that they fit perfectly in our | Ikea sofa table |. I stil need something for the other 2 cubbies down below, but that will have to wait until Goose is done with her chewing stage.
5. I finally painted over the Robin’s Egg Blue with Sherwin Williams Cobble Brown. It literally looked like a melted chocolate bar when I was putting it on the wall, and dried slightly darker. Perfection.
I’m kind of counting down the days until Ian goes hunting next year…in a good way.
