When You Got Nothing More To Give…

By Writerinterrupted @writerinterrupt

I’ve been busy taking care of family and life and trying to get ready for ACFW. Guess which one always takes a back seat?

Luckily, this year I don’t have to worry about pitching because I’ve got nothing to pitch. It’s bitter sweet. Having nothing means that all my manuscripts have made the CBA rounds and no takers. But I’m not discouraged. God has other plans for my stories. How do I know? Because my story Digging Up Death, that I didn’t survive the CBA cut, will come out in a few weeks in ebook first. I know the current story I’m writing will find a home…eventually. Having nothing to pitch means I can RELAX and just connect with other authors and absorb the teaching. I’m really looking forward to that.

But what if you’ve been working your tail off preparing for conference and taking care of family, and you have nothing more to give physically and emotionally?

Well, then it’s time to rest.

Things don’t usually go like I plan. Neither did my ACFW prep plans. I decided to make some really fun promo items and thought my family could help. I even thought I could recruit some friends and have a fun time of food and fellowship.  Let’s just say with a busy weekend with several kids in a play, others attending meetings, ACT exams or music lessons, and a van that decided it was time for the breaks to quit, not much help was given, and I’m tired. Really tired. I’ve got nothing more to give…

So I will rest tonight and pick up again tomorrow, not stressing, but doing what I can do. Knowing that it will eventually all get done. You have NO idea how far I have come in giving up control and NOT STRESSING, but I guess you can catch a glimpse of my journey in my last two books. I’m so glad I finally “got” it!

How about YOU? What do you do when you have nothing more to give? Are you ready for ACFW conference? I’d love to meet up with you if you’re going.
