Let’s Go To The Beach

I’m sure so many of you cannot wait to say goodbye to winter tomorrow and a BIG HELLO to Spring! With Spring comes Spring Break and the Ocean! For those of you not doing any traveling this Spring I thought I would bring the ocean to you. My good friend Nanette from Beautiful by Design lives near the Oregon Coast and wrote a beautiful post that will practically take you away. So find a sunny window and a cup of tea and enjoy the beach!

The Ocean, that majestic and enchanting place that always moves the soul to seek serenity and gives peace to the mind.  What is it about the strength and beauty of the sea that always seems to put everything about life in perspective?  Well, at least that is what it does for me, and I hope that is how it affects you, too.  One of the things I love about the coastlines of the various oceans are they are so diverse and each is so unique.  I live just 50 miles from the Pacific Coast of Oregon.  The thing that I adore about our coastline is that, in addition to miles of sandy beach, there are many places where jagged cliffs and rocks meet the roaring waves – what a powerful sight!  So here is a quick peek at our magnificent shoreline taken this January – with temperatures in the 60’s no less!

You don’t always get to observe sea spray like this – so whimsical and powerful, all rolled into one here at Neskowin Beach!  Can you say whimsical and powerful in the same sentence???  Guess so :)

Two of my favorite pictures.  I may or may not have ran a ways along highway 101 and had my partner in crime hold my hand as I stood on the guard rails to get one of these shots.  I am just saying, where is the scenic overlook pullout when you need one?

Just in case you haven’t seen and heard the ocean in a while, here is a video just for you.

Ok, this is the thing! I am the girl who is an absolute rule keeper.  Well, with one exception at times: “keep out” and “Danger” signs.  If a beautiful picture has to be taken, a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do!  Just so you know, I didn’t get on the fence; I crawled under it!  Thank you to the relentless ocean storms and the many dogs who dug that path :)  And yes, I did crawl on my belly over some of the rocks to get a few pictures.  What’s that quote about anything worthwhile takes effort?

Tide Pools and more Tide Pools

A “Tide Pool Circle”!  Is that kind of like a “Crop Circle”?

Tide pools at the Yaquina Head Lighthouse.  Complete with starfish, purple urchins, green anemones, mussels, hermit crabs, etc.  A wonderful place to take your children to explore!

Today they even had an official guide explaining the intricate details of this beautiful ecosystem!

There isn’t a bridge I see that I don’t love!  This is four different views of the famous Yaquina Bay bridge in Newport, Oregon.

Sunset over the ocean!  The above photos were taken over the course of three days.  And if you have been to the Oregon Coast, you know that to have three consecutive sunny days, especially in January, is quite a rarity indeed!  It was a gift we enjoyed thoroughly, and I hope you have enjoyed it here along with me.  Beautiful Scenery created by Design by the one who loves us the most.  Have a splendid week.
