What is Curvy?

What is curvy?

What do we mean when we say the word 'curvy'?  Most will immediately think of your plus sized model, but that's not really always the case....  Before I begin on my post journey I just want to clarify I have nothing against anyone who is plus sized.  I'm not tiny by any stretch of the imagination, but as long as people are happy and healthy whatever size they are... then that's all that matters.
For me my body shape has been something I've learnt to love over the years, and being honest right now I'm the happiest I've been in a long time.  I keep fit, I eat well (sometimes!) and I try to treat my body like a temple, however it wasn't always the case. I remember around the age of 16 I was quite thin, I had no bum, no boobs and was straight up and straight down.  I remember drawing pictures of how I dreamed I'd become and longing for a good set of boobs and a curvy figure. Only when I approached my early twenties did the weight pile on - I didn't dress at all appropriately for my shape and to be quite honest was somewhat clueless.  I craved the day when I could eat as I wanted and not put on any weight, and for some obscure reason all I wanted was to be that 16 year old thin girl I once was.  From this I started to become obsessed with my image and started to make myself poorly because of it.

I know we always want what we can't have, but going back to a shapeless body? Really?!  I can't quite believe I even wanted that!  I am not tiny but I'm not big either, I have bum, chunky thighs, big boobs and a figure that has developed into an hourglass curve.  I have finally learnt to embrace my shape and dress myself to flatter my figure - to be honest I'm extremely proud to say I'm a curvy girl, and a 5ft 4 curvy girl at that!

The two images above are of the stunning Holly Willoughby and Kimberley WalshI've popped them up there because they are curvy.  Both are just normal and indulging in the fact they have shape to their figures,  I particularly admire these two mainly because they both have adorable personalities to go with it They dress extremely well to compliment their shapes and I often find that I will be inspired because of what they're wearing.
Being curvy doesn't mean you have to be plus sized, curvy can be all about indulging into your body shape and loving that womanly figure you have.  Why do you think women from the 40's and 50's were so iconic? They ruled their image and people would admire their gorgeous curves and it's all coming back around in fashion today. Do you know why it's coming back? It's because it's stunning that's why!
Now I have been extremely lucky to have been nominated by Navabi for their Curvy Blog Award 2012!  Which is a fantastic honor and I'd absolutely love it if you would take 2 seconds to vote for me!
