What Fabric You Should Wear

Being fashionable has a lot to do with the fabrics you are wearing. In addition, I absolutely recommend wearing shapewear as a foundation under your clothing 100% of the time if possible. Best Shapewear Ever: Spanx.

The fabric you wear is something that you should pay attention to if you want to look your best.

You may not think that the fabric you wear has any real bearing on how you look. But, if you really think about it, fabrics matter. As we age, women tend to have trouble areas such as in their hips, thighs, midsection and arms. No matter how hard you work on yourself, things start to sag just a little. This is not the worst news as long as you know how to dress in relation to this universal fact. Fabric content matters particularly when you are wearing an item that is closest to your body, such as a slim fitting dress, jeans, skirt, leggings, etc.

First thing to always remember is if you are wearing two items of clothing (i.e.; not a dress) and one of them is a slimmer fitting item, the other item needs to be looser. Bottom line. You are not aiming for the sausage casing look, and if you are, you shouldn’t be interested in this article!

Second, slimmer fitting items for special events, or for everything in my opinion, should be made of some part spandex, latex or PBA (texturized polyester). Calm down, I am not talking about biker shorts. I am suggesting you buy slim fitting items that are made of fabrics with a bit more structure to them. The reason for this is that they will smooth and slim your silhouette much better no matter what shape you happen to be in and they will make you look instantly thinner than you are, no matter what size you are! Wearing a thin cotton t-shirt that shows all of your curves is great if you have no bumps or extra weght in areas that are covered by the t-shirt. But I am going to hazard a guess and say most people think that they don’t have anything they need to smooth out. Most properly fitting bras, underwear and pants still leave a slight line from where they hit on your body, unless you have a special fairy that makes your clothing to fit you and only you, perfectly.

Finally, the slim fitting item needs to fit you in the right way. If you buy it a size too small, you will end up looking like you are spilling out of your clothes. So ignore what size the item says it is and when you put it on if it looks good, isn’t completely uncomfortable, and does not leave a ridge on your arm where the sleeve ends and your arm skin begins to show, then you have the right size. Make sure you try items on with the shapewear on underneath, otherwise, you will have no idea what the item will really look like once you add the shapewear piece. You are wearing a slim fitting item, it is supposed to hug your body and if you have shapewear on underneath you are going to look the best you can with help from the garments which will accentuate what you have. I cannot change what you have, I can only make it look the best it can! So work that slim fitting item and know that you look your best!

Elements to take away from this post:

1. Always wear shapewear as a foundation under a slimmer fitting clothing item

2. Buy slim fitting pieces made with some spandex, lycra, or other thicker stretchy fabric

3. Wear only one slim fitting piece at a time

4. Make sure the slim fitting item fits you in the right way
