What Are People Searching for Online?

Posted on the 30 July 2012 by Sidewalkbranding @sidewalkbrand

When people use search engines to find for something, they are searching with intent and purpose.

Is your business acting intentful and purposeful to be discovered?

In the most simplistic of terms – there are three types of search queries people use when looking for answers on the internet:

  • Informational
  • Navigational
  • Transactional

Informational searches are most prevalent (80% of all searches says The Art of SEO) and iclude things like weather, maps, directions, celebrity news, sport scores and the like.  Typically non-transactional (except in the case of specific product searches), the search query is focused and intentful.  The users search is focused and precise – the answer is the goal.
