What Am I Thankful for This Thanksgiving? Health Insurance

I’m sick today (the day before Thanksgiving). Yesterday I had to take my son to Target because of a pesky sinus infection and today it’s me who needs care because of a female issue.

You see that receipt in the picture?? That $20 didn’t make me bat an eye. But here at Patient First they are pay for play. If I didn’t have insurance there could be two to four more zeros in front of that decimal point. And if I’m struggling to pay my rent, food, past dues bills, and child care I would be thinking three times about what that receipt would say. I would be fighting real hard to self-medicate. I would ignore all the warning signs. It shouldn’t have to be that way.

Anyway, I’m kinda babbling now because I’m very tired and getting weak. Just wanted to share out loud my gratitude for something I wish every single American citizen could have without a stupid holy war breaking out. Every human life deserves some back up just in case the unexpected comes along (and rest assured it always comes along).

God bless you all and have a Happy and healthy Thanksgiving.
