What Am I Going to Wear to Work Tomorrow? Work Outfits for Monday Morning

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

work outfits It’s Sunday evening and time for me to give you inspiration for work outfits for tomorrow morning.  If you’re unfamiliar with this series, the goal is to not only give you fashion advice and style inspiration using what you already own, but to showcase some popular styles in the stores now that may help you become more purposeful with your wardrobe purchases.

In this series, I often use items that I have featured in past entries because I also want to show you how to maximize everything you own and how to build off of what you may already have in your closet.  The more you can mix-and-match what’s already in your closet, the more wear you’ll get and the less money you’ll spend.

Okay, now onto the outfits!

For this first look, I started with a yellow blazer by Calvin Klein.  Yellow is such a versatile color that can add some summer flair to any of your more basic work pieces.  If yellow isn’t your favorite color, or if you think it isn’t flattering on you, a blazer in any pop shade will work with your basic neutral pieces.  I also like this jacket because, while it does have structure, it’s a bit easier and more relaxed.  Perfect for summer.

Here I paired the jacket with a navy shift dress and found a pair of shoes that picked up the yellow and blue color combination while introducing mint as a third color.  I used this mint shade for the accessories for an office-appropriate finished pop.

In the summer and for more casual work environments jackets usually aren’t all that necessary. However, a basic top can often look very unfinished.  This is why I chose this tie-neck top from Shabby Apple.  With a basic pencil skirt, a pair of nude heels and a pop of yellow accents (there’s that versatile yellow again), the outfit is complete without too many layers.

Lastly, I want to talk about this easy wrap dress from Banana Republic.  While I love the ease and simplicity of it for work, what I don’t like about it was how light the shade of blue is.  My guess is that few will look good in such a pale color.  If this is the case with you, or if you already own something similar that washes you out, a way to save it is through your accessories.  By pairing this dress with richer shades in tonal colors, the color of the dress gets anchored with more depth.  Generally speaking, not only do few people look good in super-pale shades, but, in an office environment, lighter shades can be seen as more passive on women.
