This year’s Sony World Photography Award in Portraiture went to Sophie Gamand’s ‘Wet Dog’ Series. Sophie Gamand photographed the Man’s Best Friend at his maybe most vulnerable moment – soaking wet in mid-bath. These photos capture the character and emotions of the wet doggies brilliantly just before they shake off the water. You can really see the expressions of joy (?), misery, revenge, annoyance and complete giving up in their furry little faces. They look absolutely adorable! But you would not want to be near them as they will take revenge on you for this unjustified (in their minds) act by making you completely wet. Just take a look at these cute wet faces and you will be smiling and ‘awww’:ing!
The Wet Dog Portrait Series will be published as a book later this year. In the meanwhile you can check out the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition (with selected photos from the awards) at Somerset House, London (May 1-18).
