Welcoming Walter Aldana to Expect Labs!

By Expectlabs @ExpectLabs

We’re elated to announce that Walter Aldana has joined our team as Vice President of Business Development! Walter will spearhead all partnerships here at Expect Labs, and we couldn’t be happier to have him with us. This role is a perfect blend of his interests, background, and the needs of the company as we embark on the next stage of our journey. Walter has vast experience in establishing business relationships at some of the world’s largest technology companies, including Cisco, Symantec, and Webroot Software. Additionally, Walter possesses a background in management consulting and venture capital, having worked at Boston Consulting Group, Goldman Sachs, and H.I.G. Capital. Walter holds an MBA from Stanford Business School and a BS and MS in computer science from MIT.

What first attracted Walter to Expect Labs was the chance to apply artificial intelligence to real-life applications. According to Walter, “Computers are so sophisticated yet there is really no technology that allows them to grasp and comb through large amounts of data to deliver services that actually care about your life. Expect Labs’ API applies sophisticated algorithms to make that vision possible. I am thrilled to be a part of a company that is taking A.I. to the next level by making technology more humanlike. That is inspiring.” Another draw for Walter was being able to return to his roots and work with other MIT alumni. “I loved the ‘work hard play hard’ environment that MIT cultivated, so being able to come back to that in a workplace setting is really special to me.”

His hire comes at a crucial time for our company and the advances happening in the anticipatory computing space. The rise of devices that can handle sensor information brings many possibilities for what smarter software can look like. Walter will focus his efforts on bridging the gap between contextual technologies and companies who are interested in making their applications more personalized, intuitive, and intelligent.

Here are a few fun facts about our new VP of Business Development:

  • His adorable pet parrot Roxie loves talking to him.
  • He was born in Nicaragua, and grew up on the sunny beaches of Miami.
  • As a kid, he was unbeatable at math and science competitions.
  • He is utterly obsessed with the Miami Heat.

We’re looking forward to working with Walter and all of the incredible opportunities that lie ahead. Welcome to the team!
