Weekly Wrap Up

Busy with:

Home renos. When I first started this blog, we had just started working on an old house we bought. It was live-able and cosy enough but because it was built in 1930s, there were a lot of imperfections. We had our own ideals of how we wanted to transform the house and about 2.5 years later, we have since completed half the house.

Last week, we started on the kitchen. The entire kitchen is out now, tiles are out, windows are getting put in, we have a makeshift kitchen in the lounge room with no sink… crazy times but it is going to be so worth it! We love this house as it has so much character.  There has only ever been 2 previous owners through the years and our neighbor (sadly, she passed away in a nursing home just last month) actually knew the original lady who built this house while waiting for her husband to return from war. Then, it got sold to a family with 7 young kids who were all home schooled. There was a whole veggie garden out the back with pumpkins, broccoli, carrots when we moved in.

Wishing for:

Right now? I need a full on slushie. I crave for a full on brain freeze, tongue freeze. The 39 degree weather some of the days this week is to blame.

Looking forward to:

Sunday. Sundays are my favorite. Some people say for a mum, each day probably doesn’t make much of a difference. True, but not so true. Sunday is church day; the kids get to play with other kids at church and we get to hang out with some friends we have made. After an experience turned sour at a previous church, we hadn’t been to church for over a year which is a big deal for me since I have been a church goer since I was a child. I did not want to step into a church for a long time but I’m glad I did again.

Thinking of:

More art and craft activities to do with the little one. I think I’ve been doing pretty well with my efforts into being more hands-on. Here’s the little one using a pair of tongs to sort out some colourful poms poms (well she’s actually taking short cuts by putting the poms poms in the tongs with her fingers but we’ll get there – this was her first day playing with them). These are so good for learning how to categorize, learning colours, counting and also developing fine motor skills. We also use the colourful ice cream sticks to make shapes and create/build. Credit has to go to my friend who’s suggested these activities after learning from various websites.

“Fear is nothing more than an obstacle that stands in the way of progress. In overcoming our fears we can move forward stronger and wiser within ourselves.” – Anon.
