the wedding that I intended to wear the red dress to happened. Did I wear my red dress? No. Did I think about wearing my red dress? Yes. Honestly, and I am not lying, I tried it on. But as I stood in front of the mirror, I couldn’t help but laugh. Worn with flats, kitten heels, or five-inchers, I looked ridiculous. Paired with a simple chain necklace or a statement piece, I still looked ridiculous. It’s a gorgeous dress, made with the crispest red taffeta and lined with the smoothest silk organza, but it was over the top for the occasion, even for me. I’m all for channeling Carrie Bradshaw but this would have been a major faux pas. Instead, I opted for a sequin maxi skirt, cream chiffon blouse, and leopard low heels. Simple, comfortable, classic, I wore my hair straight on the no hotter than eighty five degree day. Don’t you fret, the dress will not go unphotographed. I’m storing it in my closet until Valerie, Brandy, and I collaborate again for what will be and always is an amazing photoshoot. I hope you don’t mind me sharing a little bit about my personal life but my family came into town for the occasion and it was so great to see them. We don’t talk a lot and being several states apart, we definitely don’t see each other often. It’s not because we don’t like each other, it’s because we are very busy. To be together in one place at one time is rare and usually only happens over the holidays. So spending time with them without a Christmas tree, twinkling lights, or presents, was a great way to spend a summer weekend.
