Wednesday Wisdom- Breaking the Monotony

By Saumya Shiohare @myriadmusings1
Doing the same things, day in day out, life can get mundane and throw you in a rut, without you even realizing. Result: a mid life crisis situation wherein everything suddenly starts to feel blah, you feel unproductive, sleeping through the night becomes a thing of the past and so on so forth.
Running a blog full time, managing commercial and residential properties part time and keeping the house in place and shape all the time, does get on my nerves occasionally.  I am a normal human being after all. I start feeling agitated on little things and chores that I usually enjoy start to feel boring. When this happens, I know it's time for a break.
Taking week long breaks is not always conducive with my work, Ribhya's school and husband work schedules, so I have to rely on half day breaks to help me get through these ruts. I will either go on a  short spa spree including pedi-mani and body massage sessions or do something that does not involve work: just entails some good food, good dessert and good company. For instance yesterday was one such day when I felt the need for a little adulting and I am just about to share with you the sweet little things I did and you could do to loosen up.
1) Take up an activity/hobby- Photo shoot is a great stress buster for me and when feeling low, I like to dress up, go out and shoot some pictures. It definitely helps me loosen up. So if you love an activity, go ahead and pursue it. It will be a good breather.

2) Try things out of your comfort zone- it is okay to sometimes loose inhibitions and do things that have been in your bucket list. Try a sport, test drive your dream car, window shop at a high end retailer, or something that you have been wanting to do- JUST DO IT !!

3) Eat a good meal- Eat breakfast items for lunch, to lunch items for dinner, eat something that you relish. Gather your friends, or just go out on a lunch date with self, taking this hogging time off definitely gets you feeling elated.

4) Stow away your electronics for a day- You can't even imagine the happiness you get after a day of technology ban, until you've actually done it. Technology and social media has taken over our lives, we are so engrossed in the media world, that we forget to enjoy the little moments that life gives us only once. Going phone or laptop free for half a day wouldn't hurt no one. There is nothing to loose, expect a few likes and social media messages. I could live with it....what about you ???

5) Set your inner child free- Let the child in you set free and you will surely feel the difference. Go bowling, or bocce bowl, or even a mini painting session, no one will judge you. Live in the moment, be yourself and show the middle finger to the rest.....;)

6) Eat a doughnut and pose with it too- need I say more on this one. Nothing comforts you more than a sweet treat.  It gives you that adrenaline rush and that instant feeling of gratification.

7) Say hello to the mannequins at Zara - being an avid shopper at Zara, the sight of the mannequins in pretty outfits makes me happy. So whenever I am in need of a break, I'll stop by Zara during my lunch break and admire the gorgeousness. So don't walk, run to your favorite store, shop or window shop, just live your entire life in those ten minutes of retail therapy.
